“Works Even on Noise-Sensitive Dogs”
I cannot believe this worked! I had another nail attachment that went on a Dremel drill that I used for my labs for many years; however, my Greyhound did not like the noise. I could not get near her even with valuable treats with the Dremel drill and attachment. This device worked fabulously. I started on the slow speed with some treats, and she was fine with the noise. As she relaxed, I turned it up to high speed and was able to finish all of her nails in a short time. She even started falling asleep by the end. This is a great device!

“Safe For Tiny Paws”
Love this product. I have a new puppy and my bigger, louder nail grinder is too much for him. This one is PERFECT. It is whisper quiet and has a safeguard built in. I am so happy I found this product. It's perfect for puppies or small to medium dogs. I still can't get over how powerful, yet quiet it is.

“Perfect for Dark Nails”
Having a big Rottweiler with dark nails always made grooming a tricky guessing game. But this grinder has really put me at ease. It's basically silent, keeping us both calm, and I no longer worry about accidentally hurting him. We used to have to sedate him because he would get so scared of nail trims, and I didn't want to risk an easy mistake happening. But now our grooming routine is smoother and more peaceful than ever!
“My old, grumpy dog tried to bite me every time I touched his paws. Then I tried this and he just… sat there”
Best nail grinder!!!
I've been a dog groomer for years and out of the Past 4 nail grinders I've used over 30 years this is by far the best one that's ever been recommended to me. Even better than Oster. I've been using a regular dremel along with A regular human grade Electric nail buffer to get my My dog's nails done. I have 3 dogs it normally takes me an hour.. I just purchased This one and it took me less than an hour. It didn't heat up the dog's nails . I was able to get their nails shorter than normal. And it's not nearly as noisy as a regular Dremel. Has 2 speeds. Its just as powerful as the plug in ones. Very nice to hold and easy to use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Have a Question? We’ve Got the Answer!
What Distinguishes the Maxpro 3-in-1 Grinder from Other Nail Grinders?
The Maxpro 3-in-1 Grinder stands out due to its ultra-quiet motor, which operates under 40 dB, significantly reducing noise and vibration to keep your pet calm during grooming sessions.
It also features a precision diamond drum bit grinder for accurate trimming and includes a USB rechargeable battery for prolonged and convenient use.
Is the Maxpro 3-in-1 Grinder Suitable for All Pet Sizes and Breeds?
Absolutely. This grinder is designed to handle everything from tiny Chihuahuas to 150lb Mastiffs.
It comes equipped with three port sizes and a two-speed setting that can be adjusted to suit the nail thickness and sensitivity of your pet.
How Much Should I Trim with this Grinder?
For Dogs with Clear or Light-Colored Nails:
When trimming nails that are clear or light-colored, you can usually see the pinkish area known as the “quick,” which you should avoid cutting.
Use the grinder to gently trim only the transparent section of the nail.
As you trim, look for a small black dot at the center of the nail’s cross-section — this is a sign that you are approaching the quick. Stop trimming when you see this dot to ensure you do not harm your dog.
For Dogs with Dark or Black Nails:
When using it on dark nails, the quick isn’t visible. Carefully grind small sections and observe for texture or color changes in the nail’s cross-section, indicating proximity to the quick. This method prevents over-trimming and keeps your pet safe.
How Does the Maxpro Grinder Prevent Nail Overtrimming?
It helps you trim your dog’s nails with precision and confidence, minimizing the risk of cutting the quick.
Unlike traditional nail clippers that can accidentally cut too short, our grinder allows you to trim gradually and in a controlled manner. It works by gently grinding down the nail incrementally, so you can stop before reaching the quick.
This makes it especially helpful for dogs with dark nails, where the quick is much less visible. Additionally, the grinder operates quietly and with low vibration, which helps keep your dog calm during grooming.
With the Maxpro Grinder, you can trim your dog’s nails without the fear of causing pain, ensuring they stay at a healthy length.
What Should I Do If My Pet Is Still Anxious About the Grinder?
It is designed to minimize noise and vibration, which typically helps pets adjust more easily.
However, for pets that are initially apprehensive, gradually introduce the grinder by allowing them to sniff and listen to it while turned off.
Offer rewards for calm behavior, and begin using it for short periods, gradually increasing the time as they become more comfortable with the process.
How Do I Choose the Correct Port and Speed for My Pet?
Select the port that matches the size of your pet’s nails:
Small Port — Ideal for small pets like cats, Chihuahuas, Toy Poodles, or Yorkies
Medium Port — Suitable for medium-sized breeds like Beagles, Cocker Spaniels, or Border Collies
Large Port — Perfect for large dogs with thicker nails like German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, or Rottweilers
Start with the lower speed to assess your pet’s reaction and switch to the higher setting if necessary for more effective grinding.
What is the Battery Duration on a Full Charge?
The Maxpro 3in1 can operate for up to 7 hours on a full charge, enabling multiple grooming sessions before needing to recharge.
How to Charge It and How Long Does It Take?
You can charge it using the included USB cable, which plugs into any standard USB charger or computer USB port.
The device reaches full charge in approximately 1.5 hours.
Why Can’t I Just Walk My Dog to Keep Nails Trimmed?
While regular walks do help file down your dog’s nails, particularly on hard surfaces, this method often isn’t enough to maintain the nails at the optimal length.
Long nails can cause discomfort, affect your dog’s walking posture, and lead to joint issues.
Additionally, walking doesn’t uniformly wear down nails and can’t precisely control the length, leading to uneven growth.
Using the grinder ensures that your dog’s nails are trimmed safely and evenly, keeping them comfortable and promoting better health.
Why Can’t My Dog Just File Their Own Nails on a Scratch Pad?
Scratch pads can help slightly, but they only file the front nails while back nails and dewclaws are left completely untouched.
They also require your dog to scratch on command with enough force to make a real difference, which many dogs simply won’t do.
For overgrown nails, targeted trimming, or any real maintenance, you still need a proper tool to get the job done.
Can It Be Used for Professional Grooming?
Absolutely! The Maxpro Grinder is ideal for both home and professional settings.
Its durability, long battery life, and customizable features make it a preferred choice for professional groomers looking for reliable, effective grooming tools.
"If it doesn't help your dog, we don't want your money."
We adopted Max from a shelter. No one could tell us what he'd been through, only that he flinched at almost everything.
All we wanted was to give him the best life he'd ever had. So we went searching for the best of everything for him. Too much of what's out there is cheap, harsh, or built to sell instead of to care.
That is the whole reason Maximutt exists. To bring pups and the people who love them the kind, well-made things they truly deserve. And if anything we make doesn't help your dog, we'll refund every penny. No questions asked.
Easy and quick
I have had the Pet Nail Grinder for a year now, and have used it weekly since it arrived. Following the clear and simple directions, it took very little time for my pup to learn to tolerate having her nails trimmed with the nail grinder. The grinder is very quiet and does a very good job. With just a couple of seconds per toe each week (a total of less than 5 minutes!) my dog's nails are always the correct healthy length. I follow up her pedicures with Musher's Secret paw wax for healthy toe nails and paw pads. I highly recommend this Pet NailGrinder.
So much easier (and calmer) than nail clippers!
This nail grinder is a total game changer for trimming my dog’s nails at home. It’s quiet, gentle, and doesn’t scare my dog the way traditional clippers do. The two-speed setting is perfect — I use the lower speed for control and the higher one for thicker nails. The grinder is rechargeable, holds a great charge, and the design makes it easy to handle. I love that it has a little light to help you see better while trimming, and it smooths the edges perfectly so there’s no snagging afterward. If you’ve ever been nervous about clipping your dog’s nails or had a pet who hates it, this tool makes the whole process stress-free. Definitely worth every penny — my pup’s paws have never looked better! 🐾💅
This thing is a life savior! Before I was using regular dog clippers and let me tell you that was a major hassle. BOTH of my dogs hate the sound of the clipper and refuse to sit still for me to do it. I was only ever able to get one nail done. Plus the idea of clipping too much off scared me. SO, I thought it was finally time for me to try another method. Before I would just take them to the Vet to get their nails trimmed. But, now I came across this and I am glad I did. It has been amazing for me. They are still a bit weary of it but manage to sit through it all. They are noticing it isn't as bad as the nail clippers were. It does take a bit longer with this but its worth it because I don't have to worry about hurting my dog's nails and clipping too much. It has two speeds on it, one that is slow and one that is a bit faster. Remember not to focus on one nail for too long because it does get hot and can burn the nail a bit if its close to the flesh. Anyway, this is perfect for nervous dogs or anyone who just wants something better for their dogs.
Worth it!
I read the reviews and decided to check it out. Easy to use. Trims nails quickly and very quiet. So glad I bought this Nail Grinder. If you're unsure, don't be.
10/10 would recommend.
10/10 Best twenty bucks I've spent in a long time. Went from ashamed that our dog looked completely neglected to, "Did you just go to the groomers for a paw-dicure?!" Great size for flipping it in one direction or the other, powerful and efficient. My dog previously would never let me clip his nails, I was able to grind all of them down to no-tippy-tappies in one sitting while my 3 year old plied him with cheese and protein waffles. Dude never gets table food so it was a great success. The sound was quiet, the grind wasn't traumatic. I especially appreciate the curve in the grinding tip. Solid product. Would buy again. Do recommend.
My anxious dog can handle these
I’m happy with this grinder. I have a VERY anxious dog and I just cannot cut his nails. Taking him to the vet also is tough so I really wanted to be able to cut them at home where he’s comfortable. This grinder doesn’t seem to bother him. I give him peanut butter on his lick mat and I quickly grind each nail. He pulls away a little but at least I don’t worry about cutting him when he does. I find that doing a small amount weekly works for him, which is quick and easy to do. The volume of the machine is low and it doesn’t seem to freak him out. Very pleased. I don’t have a pic of my dog getting his nails grinded but I added another one of him just because he’s so cute ❤️
Works great!
I had never trimmed pets nails before so I was a little unsure I would do it correctly or that my big "teenage" dog would even let me. I needed to trim his front paws to minimize digging. I let him look & smell the grinder for a few minutes and then turned it on so he could get used to the buzz also. I would give him a treat while he was still checking it out. The first time I trimmed his nails he was so curious about the whole situation it did take a few minutes, maybe 15-20. He wasn't scared at all, but the buzz/hum made him wanna sniff it more. Lol. I am so glad I purchased this! Now I just maintain the nails that need it. No batteries! Charges while not in use. Perfect size to have good handling ability.
Great Product!
I’m not normally a “write a review after one use” person. I like to test it out, see how it lasts. But with this tool I immediately thought it was worth it. The short story: it works great, it’s small, quiet, and efficient. Highly recommend. The Girl Math: a nail grind in my area is $27 per dog. This product was $40 ish. I saved about $20 buying this and using it on both my dogs ONCE. Which means I save $30 each nail trim after the first use. The long story: I worked in the dog industry for about 7 years. I have cut a lot of dogs nails, and have used a lot of different products to do it. Now that i am no longer in that industry, I still have 2 large dogs that I have to cut their nails. They are AWFUL for their nail trims and I usually push it off way too long. My husband used my old grinder and forgot where he put it, I pushed off their trims too long so I needed a new one cheap and fast in case I found my expensive one. And here we are. After using this grinder I’m amazed. It’s the best one I’ve ever used. This is the best both dogs have ever sat. I think that is largely due to how quiet this is. Both dogs are noise reactive and this is the quietest grinder I’ve ever used, just a gentle buzzing you can definitely still have a conversation while it’s on. I like that the head is slightly concave. It seems to keep in the nail in place so you don’t skip and hit their paw pad as much. It came with a safety head. I have big dogs, so I removed that, it wouldn’t have worked with their nails. It is also really small and light and easy to grip and maneuver. I can’t say anything about the longevity of the product. I will update if it conks out in the near future. So no update means it’s still going strong. It’s currently June 2024. If need a cheap nail grinder this one is going to go above and beyond!
Lasts for years
Originially bought this in February of 2025 and it just now stopped working. This worked really well for my dogs nails, so I just rebought another one!
Great product, good quality
Tried the manufacturers method for acclimating our pet to the sound of the tool. Didn't work so we held the little gal in our arms and polished up the nails on her back feet. She found out that there was no danger to her and she calmed down. Expecting less trauma when we trim her front feet. Good product, works very well!
Mission accomplished!!!
My rescued dog hated trimming his nails. He wouldn't even let me rub his paws. I bought this trimmer in January. It did take me until now (July) to get him to let me grind his nails. If taken to the groomer, they would put a muzzle and force him, which I didn't like. I started by just turning the grinder on while I pet him watching TV. Then I would casually rub his paws, each time doing it for a longer time. Then I would put the grinder (with the cap on) nearer to him each time I rubbed him. And yesterday after we came back from a long walked, I gave him the usual rub and then tried grinding his nails, and it worked!!!!
AMAZING- QUICK - EFFICIENT
AMAZING- I have two reactive dachshunds and this is a GAME changer. They allow us to do it as long as they get treats (lol) but the real win here is that it’s QUICK. A lot of nail files I have purchased before take way too long and they get irritated too quickly; this is fast and efficient! Definitely purchase this.
Best purchase I have made. Tks Maximutt
3 shih tzu's! They love this, the fight over who gets to go first and fall asleep in my lap while I'm grinding their nails!! I used to have to fight with them and get assistance to distract them so I could clip them. I love love love this grinder! The quiet hum is so relaxing to them! I'm so grateful to the lady that submitted the review that it was quiet and hers was 3 years old and still working great! And the charge lasts for months and I use it on 3 dogs every other week!
Works great,
Used this dog toenail grinder today and it’s the best one I’ve ever used. (3rd one) Dog had no issues with it. Be sure and place something underneath foot, as there will be nail dust.
Love this for my dog!!!
I absolutely love this!!!!! So does my dog! She shrieked each and every time I would cut her nails…but with this she practically falls asleep! Thank you!!!
Nail trims are no longer a battle.
We went from taking two people to trim our German Shepherd’s nails to her just lying down and letting them be trimmed. Device is quiet and works great.
Perfect for beginners!
I got this for our pit mix who kiiiilllllsssss us with his claws and it’s UH-MAY-ZING!!! I tried like the dollar store one in the mail section (LMAO - didn’t do anything) and it’s such a hassle taking him to the vet to get them trimmed since he has fear aggression and anxiety so I sucked it up and tried this one after researching a lot and I’m SO GLAD I DID!!! I’m excited that the guide cover plastic thing comes off so I can use it for other projects as well though it’ll mainly be for the doggie. But it is SO easy because I just kinda go around in a circle and underneath and make it rounded which is super easy cause you just stay inside the guide hole. I don’t have to worry about nicking his skin or fur or grinding on my skin because the guide protects us. If you just make contact it does a light filing and if you push down it does it just enough to grind what you need down without going too far and hurting the quick. I was afraid he’d be scared of the noise but this thing is so quiet he barely notices it. I haven’t had any trouble charging it and I just take the guide cover off and rinse/dry the file after each use. TLDR; Guide slot is amazing and fool proof, when applying pressure for 2-3 seconds at a time you can see all the nail dust and feel the nail going down just enough to not go farther than you expect and hit the quick so it’s really safe and it’s super quiet!
Let your dog get use to the sound and trimmer first.
Loved the product. First time cutting his nails and my daughter took a picture on her iPad because he fell asleep while I was cutting his nails. Nail trimmer was not loud at all and it was very easy to use. Love love love!!!!
Easy to use
No matter what the groomer wasn’t doing a good enough job on Bunny’s nails. I’m old with thin skin and all my friends are thin skinned too. Had to find a solution. Luckily I found the correct nail grinder that was so easy to use. So quiet it didn’t scare her like the tool at the groomer. Price was right too. Thank you, Joy
Excellent Pet Nail Grooming Tool – Smooth, Quiet & Effective
I recently purchased this pet nail grinder, and it's been a game-changer for my grooming routine. The two-speed setting makes it easy to start slow — which my pet appreciated — and then switch to a higher speed for tougher nails.... See more
Worked Better Than Anticipated! Very happy!
Couldn't be happier! I was afraid that going with this trimmer that is "cheaper," might be a mistake (bc sometimes you get what you pay for, right?) but thus far it has worked VERY well. I have three small Dachshund dogs and even though they're not used to it yet, it trimmed with ease. It has two speeds and it's not loud by any means. It hasn't hurt them at all; thus far I've only used it with the guard on, so of course it's a little slower going than if you were to take the guard off. I've been able to trim their nails back a good bit and I'm going to continue until I can get them down to where I want them to be. The charge lasted the entire time while I used it. I haven't had to stop and charge it when I've used it. It's also able to be operated while plugged in and charging if you need to do that, so that's a big plus as well. So just know that although this may be very inexpensive (and maybe you're like me and thought that if you didn't pay much for it, it probably wouldn't work well), it works very well, at least mine has thus far and I'm happy with the purchase and I would definitely recommend!
Game changer
At first my dog didn't like it at all, but she was 8 at the time so was something new and strange for her, after a few months I tried again and same reaction but her nails were pretty long so I had to do something, I had to insist and at the end, after kind of forcing her we did it. It's pretty easy to use
Chicken dog approved
Perfect for our senior chicken, I mean pup. She’s terrified to even have her paws touched let alone nails clipped. Upon first use, she actually laid down. Amazing!
Incredible product
I was a little skeptical about this, but I wouldn’t cut my dog’s nails with scissors. I was petrified I would make her bleed. This product is incredible. My dog didn’t even move. Just remember to have the treats on hand.
GSD doesn’t mind!
I have a 110lb German Shepherd that is incredibly sensitive about his nails. I’ve been clipping his nails for 8 years and it is always a struggle that usually ends with blood. This trimmer arrived with the motor on and running in the box. The package was actually vibrating and humming. Naturally I thought it was going to be returned. How it came to be running is a mystery as the 3 position switch has positive detents (couldn’t have just been rocked on accidentally). At any rate, after I fully charged it I gave it a try. It is whisper quiet and my dog didn’t yelp or pull. Great first trimming session with the front paws. Tomorrow we’ll do the back. I wish I’d have tried grinding years ago.
My opinion as a groomer
I've been a groomer almost 15 years and I'm pleasantly shocked by this product. The quality for the price point is pretty incredible. I haven't used it long term to see how the battery holds up with everyday use yet but will update in time. In comparison, I've always used dremmel brand which are heavy, loud, expensive, and frequently cease to work after 6 months use. This product is light weight, easy to maneuver, and the tip is HIGH quality. The fact that it's not sand paper means the life is much much longer. It didn't need all the heavy duty power of a regular dremmel because the tip files with ease. It's very quiet in comparison to other dremmels I've used and even my nervous dog didn't mind it. (He usually whines when I do his nails.) I can't wait to try this on my everyday clientele. Even if the battery doesn't hold up over time it's still a lot cheaper to replace than a dremmel brand product! Tips for common complaints: I've noticed a few reviews of people stating that the dogs nail didn't fit in the guard. The guard is removable for larger nails. You can give it a twist and pull, it'll pop right off. If your dog has really long nails, don't hold the dremmel on them consistently without breaking contact. It can heat up the nail bed and be quite painful. Make sure you are rolling over the nail rounding it in quick strokes and breaking contact. You can also trim with Clippers first then round the edges. If you have a nervous dog, you can give them a tasty bone or Kong toy with peanut butter as a distraction. Always start when your dog is in a relaxed state and use lots of positive reinforcement. Touching your dogs paws frequently, even when you aren't planning to trim the nails, is a great way to build trust for when you need to touch their feet. I always recommend to clients to examine the mouths and feet so their pet is accustomed to it. That way you can check for dental issues or injuries to their feet without the pet panicking.
Worked great and this is my first time using
I've always been a little afraid of trimming my dogs nails for fear of cutting too short. I have 2 small dogs and their nails grow fast, so I finally decided it was time to learn because paying to have them trimmed so frequently was too expensive. This grinder came with information on how to trim the nail which made me feel more confident. The grinder worked great and it was my first time using it. I was able to use by myself without having someone else hold my dogs. Both of my dogs did really well with the grinder. I allowed them to get adjusted to the sound first and rewarded them with treats throughout the process. The wiggled a bit at times, but overall stayed still and allowed me to trim. I love how quiet the grinder is. I included a video so hopefully you can hear that it is quiet. The video was taken after I had trimmed my dogs nails and as you can tell they were not fearful of it at all afterwards. Highly recommend!
2 of my 3 love it!
I have 3 dogs and 2 will sit for this, the 3rd is a skittish dog anyway but this is definitely worth it considering vet charges to clip!
Money saver!!
Our dog has been afraid of nail trimming all her life. Clippers scared her, the dremmel freaked her out. This trimmer works great for us! I started real slow getting her used to it, and now while not fond of it, she lets me do her nails without problems. Move the trimmer around from bottom to top and side to side and it will trim the nails slowly but surely. Battery life is good, charges fast! Would buy again, no more paying the vet $25 per nail trim and so much less stress. Just start slow!!
So quiet and easy!
Yay!!! I was so scared to do this myself until now! This saves me so much money having to get my 90lb Labradors nails clipped and smoothed out every single month! She was amazing and calm the entire time! It took me 10 min to do all when it takes me and a veterinarian both 30 min!!! It is so quiet and so much better with her trusting me as her mom !I Highly recommend this !!!
Game Changer for Nail Trimming!
This nail grinder has made such a difference for me and my dog! He used to hate nail clippers and would always pull away, but with this ZenPaw grinder, he stays much calmer. It’s quiet, gentle, and the vibration isn’t too strong, which really helps keep him relaxed. The two-speed option is great — I use the slower speed for better control on the smaller nails and the higher speed for thicker ones. The grinder head is smooth but powerful, and it shapes the nails really nicely without splitting or snagging. The rechargeable battery lasts a long time, and I love that it’s cordless — super convenient to use anywhere. It’s easy to hold, lightweight, and feels sturdy. If you’re nervous about trimming your dog’s nails at home, this is a total must-have. Worth every penny!
Game changer!!!!!! FANTASTIC
This is the best little device for nail trimming! We have 4 dogs, the 3 little ones HATE clippers so having read reviews and done my research, I bought this grinder. Honestly a game changer! It’s quiet and none of the dogs minded it at all! They now have neat short nails. I would advise wearing a mask as there is a lot of fine dust produced which is probably best not breathed in.
Worth the money!
This grinder was a replacement for one I’ve had for about 4 years. It’s thick which makes it easy to hold on to seems to be good quality. The color is awesome very rich purple. My dog falls asleep while I’m doing his nails. Definitely worth the money!
10/10 purchase and my dog loves me again
My dog absolutely despises any clippers so I hoped that this would ease her mind when I did her nails, and it did! It is so quiet so she barely knows that I am doing her nails until I am touching her paw. It is super easy to handle as it is not heavy and the design makes it easy to shape her nails in the way that I need to. It is 100% worth it and the battery life makes it even better. As for the heat, sometimes it does give off a warmer feeling or air, but as long as you are taking breaks as recommended then you shouldn't have any problems!
Omg! AMAZING!!!
We’ve been using a regular drill and every time it’s nail trim time, it’s like a war with our pet lol headache and stressful. So her nails usually get longer than they should between trims which isn’t good for her. Just used this for the first time, it was like cutting through warm butter and she yawned 2x during. No fight! Where has this been all these years!??? Amazing!
Safe, Easy, Quiet & lightweight
I love love this nail grinder! My 30 lb dog is afraid of a lot of noises. We rescued her a year ago and the first time that I trimmed her nails I used a regular nail cutter for dogs. Unfortunately I cut her quick and it looked like a crime scene when I was done! I looked online and found that this trimmer was recommended by groomers. Although she does get a little nervous she allows me to trim all her nails with this. I bought this in August of 2024 and it still works exactly the same! I can now get my dog to calmly get her nails trimmed.
This grinder is amazing!
This is the best grinder I have found for my babies, two long haired Chihuahuas and a short hair. It has been a long, constant, four year battle to trims nails. With this? They sleep in my lap while I use it on them. The change in their attitude on trim day since I switched to this one is unbelievable. I would recommend this over and over!
Wonderful Trimmer
This trimmer is wonderful. Holds a charge for a long time. I have one dog who is so scared of nail trims he will scream while just holding his foot, and he doesn't mind when I use this instead. It has really good grinding power too.
